My love for my soldier

The main reason I created this online journal/blog is to help me cope with my boyfriend's year long deployment. It's easier for me to express my feelings if I write them down first. I know that the stuff I write may be very personal but I'm hoping that maybe my posts will help another person out who is in the same situation as me.

I met my soldier, Kyle, on October 15th 2007. I didn't know it then but that day has changed my life forever. I never knew what love really was until I fell in love with Kyle. He has impacted my life in so many ways and has allowed me to believe that there is such things as soul mates.

I knew when I first started dating Kyle that he was in the Army but I didn't really think much of it at first. I just wanted to get to know him and see where our relationship takes us. It wasn't until months into our relationship that Kyle mentioned to me that he would be deploying in the years ahead... just not sure of when it would exactly be. The only way that I didn't let it bother me was by pretending that it was never going to happen.

Now, over 2 years later, Kyle has been officially deployed since December 11th. He is currently training in Indiana until the end of February and then will leave for a 9 month tour in Afghanistan. I'd be lying to myself if I didn't say I was scared. So many emotions and thoughts run through my mind everyday. I have no idea what this year is going to be like and how I'm going to be strong enough to do this.

What I do know is that the love that we have for each other will keep both of us strong. I couldn't imagine myself not spending the rest of my life with him. I don't think I'll ever completely cope with his deployment but I know coming out of this we will have an even better understanding of each other and an even stronger relationship. I support my soldier 100% and couldn't be more proud of him.

I am in love with a soldier and wouldn't want it any other way.
